I Feel Fancy!
The 2019 Golden Globes have come and gone. I might not have watched any of it (I actually hate watching awards shows, they take forever!) but I did Google all the red carpet looks, because hello fashion! I've always loved getting dressed up, the formal gowns, the high heels, the accessories, the statement pieces!
I don't get that many chances to dress up which is always a bit of a bummer. I love the opportunity when it does come around. :) I love jumpsuits in particular and there was a *shocking* lack of jumpsuits at the Golden Globes. Although Julia Roberts did create a dress and pant hybrid ensemble that I absolutely love. And Constance Wu looked stunning in a nude Vera Wang gown with just the right amount of color.
A little bit of nude goes a long way! |

I LOVE white. White gowns, white jumpsuits, white button down shirts with skinny jeans, I could go on but I believe you get the idea. Jamie and Sandra look stunning in their dresses and I also love Jamie's bright white hair! I have a gorgeous white dress myself that I've been waiting to wear but I never seem to have an occasion to wear it to. Hence no photo of me in said dress. :(
I'm not usually one for sparkle but there are always exceptions to the rule! Saoirse's chain mail dress was one of my favorites and I can only imagine how much fun it would be to prance around in it! I just can't help but wonder though if the texture doesn't pinch your skin a bit when you sit?? The most important question obviously. :P
I found my own spot of sparkle for New Year's a few years ago. A gold and black sequined mini dress from ASOS with a v back (which was my favorite part.) The party wasn't very fun but at least I liked how I looked. ;)

Black is always a great option and these four deliver everything! I love the structure and the cut of Rosamund Pike's dress and the drama of the cape Debra Messing is wearing. Like pretty much every dress I've posted so far I'd love to give both of these a try-on at the very least. ;) I also loved Octavia Spencer's dress, it was a simpler dress on the red carpet but the print/texture kept it from being just another basic black dress as did the chic off the shoulder detailing.
You can just feel the drama! |
My own black dress moment was spent in the woods, freezing my a** off, wearing 5" Michael Kors heels in at least a foot of snow. Not quite as glamorous as the red carpet in warm and sunny California but I managed to survive with no frostbite!

I bought this dress for less than $50! |
You always needs some prints and these two gowns are *insert thrilled face and one excited squeal*! Camilla Belle has been one of my favorite actresses for almost as long as I can remember and I think everyone fell in love with Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries. (That was our very first DVD purchase by the way, not that you asked, but you know, fun fact!) I just now noticed that both dresses have similar necklines and both actresses opted for similar hair styles. (Maybe they pow-wowed before the red carpet?) Camilla's dress is my favorite of the two and I love the bold and colorful make-up look. A look I might have to try soon. If nothing else I can try it out at work and be the most heavily make-up'd legal secretary.
I've always loved prints, I also really enjoy mixing prints. Especially when they're prints that most people wouldn't ever pair and give me a 'really?' look when I do. :)

I thought this dress was a fun option for a weekend in Niagara Falls!

Pastels aren't usually my friend. I always feel like I look completely washed out but that is definitely not the case with Lady Gaga wearing Valentino. Her hair even matches! That's commitment! I've never tried matching my hair to my wardrobe but I suppose I should try it sometime. The bolder the better!
My blue dresses don't have the drama factor but I loved wearing both of them. The first one is a Solace London dress I rented for a wedding and it's one I've been wanting to rent again! Hopefully the next time though I won't be feeling like a bloated sausage and I'll enjoy wearing it more.
BCBG is a favorite brand of mine so when I found this beautiful blue dress marked down to only $50 I knew I wasn't going to leave it behind. And it was the perfect dress for adult prom! Although I did realize if I didn't sit the right way people would get 2 (micro)eyefuls they weren't planning on, oops!
And now for my favorite look from the 2019 Golden Globes! Emily Blunt looked absolutely stunning in this Alexander McQueen dress. She always looks fantastic on the red carpet and this was no exception. I'm trying to figure out how I could recreate this look for myself but I'm not that great at sewing, etc. It would probably end up with me rolling around in doilies covered in glue. :P
Well if you've stuck with me rambling on about fancy dresses, congrats, you've made it to the end! And if you love dressing up as much as I do leave a comment and tell me about your favorite dressed up moment!
Ciao!
