1 Skirt, 5 Ways
If you follow me on
Instagram you might’ve seen from a few previous posts that I’ve recently signed
up to give Rent the Runway Update a try. So far, it’s been working out pretty
well! I get to select and then wear some lovely pieces and at the end of the month
I can either purchase or return them and select four more items to have shipped
to me! No muss, no fuss and I get to feel a little bit like Carrie Bradshaw.
I’ve only done it for
two months now and so far my favorite item is this beautiful high waisted
pleated skirt from Hunter Bell. Talk about a statement piece!
It's still available online but if you prefer to not dish out several hundred dollars for it you can always rent it from Rent the Runway for $70-$75
or, if you have or would like to sign up for one of their monthly subscriptions
you’ll be able to rent it for $0. *After the monthly fee of course, they get
you one way or the other! J
Since this is such a
statement piece I thought of how many ways could it actually be styled and
still look good? Well, I dug around in my closet and came up with 5 different
looks and I could’ve probably come up with more but I cut myself off. But who
knows, I might keep experimenting for as long as I still have it. :)
Since we’ve had
negative temperatures lately my first outfit choice included a lovely chunky
sweater I’ve been wearing nonstop since I found it at Express. Pairing it with
thick thermal tights and chunky booties makes the outfit overall a bit more
cold weather friendly.

I love this one.
White is one of my favorite things to wear even though I tend to actually buy
very few white items due to the difficulty in keeping them that particular
shade. But pairing a simple top like this with such a statement piece almost
throws your brain for a loop but keeping the look interesting over all by
mixing in some different prints helps bring it back to a fashionable state. At least that's what I think. ;)

It’s far too cold at
the moment for this option but I love a chic crop top and when paired with
simple ankle strap heels it gives the look a fun, youthful twist. Adding a
structured clutch helps to give just a little bit of edge to all the
femininity.

Of course, sometimes
it’s not about having a look that’s ready for a night out or a brunch with the
girls. Maybe you want to add some pop to the office or wherever your work space
may be. Paired with or without a blazer it looks great in the office and by
keeping the top, tights and heels a neutral black it helps it from being too
glaringly overbearing but still maintains a chick, put together appearance
which is perfect for a professional setting.

Last but certainly
not least is my favorite combination! I’m not sure if you would say this was
dressing down the skirt or dressing up the graphic tee but either way, it works
and I love it! Mixing textures and styles can give you an outfit with dimension
and interest. Pairing a skirt like this which could so easily be made formal
with something as casual as denim gives you an unexpected combo and adding a
graphic tee, well, that’s just fun! Keeping with the theme of mixing it all up
I added my favorite little bag, the adorable Robot purse I purchased from Henri
Bendel a month or two ago. (I still haven’t come up with a name for this little
cutie, so if you have suggestions on what to name an adorable robot purse,
please share! ;) When everything else is a bit, crazy, a nude shoe is your
lifesaver. When your eye has so many other things to look at and take in,
having at least one neutral aspect can help maintain the balance of the look and
keep it from going too crazy!
