Nordstrom, Here I Come!
It's that time of year, people! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here! Ah Nordstrom, how I have enjoyed getting to know you! I tried on my first pair of $200 jeans there and immediately regretted that decision as I knew I would never again be able to happily go back to "poor people pants" as I started calling them! :P As I do not have a Nordstrom credit card I had to stare through the glass window so to speak during the card member presale and could only browse through the categories, admiring a few things, and crossing my fingers that some items would survive the sale. But shopping to the general public opened a few days ago and it goes until August 5th so you still have time to take a look for yourself and see if there are any fall must haves that just might find their way into your closet!
While I was browsing through the different categories I started putting some outfits together, all at different price points...the "I can spend what I want" outfits, the "I can afford a splurge" and "honey, I'm on a budget" categories. :P If you can identify with any of those then hopefully you'll like or at least be able to pull some inspiration from my little "outfit mood boards."
So, the first two...
So in the "I can spend what I want" category we have a dressier and much more feminine outfit than I would usually put together (but you have to branch out at some point, right!) I think this dress would also look great with over the knee suede boots in a light gray or nude color!
Dress: $375 Shoes: $90 Earrings: $157 Purse: $73 Grand total: $695 |
The second outfit we have is more along my usual lines. :P It contains my favorite go to's for fall, leather jackets and boots! To soften the look of the leather jacket and booties you could pair them with a soft slouchy sweater, a lace cami or add a simple tee with layered delicate jewelry. Or to keep it all a bit edgier add a darker tee and pair it with a choker and some aviators! |
Jacket: $500 Jeans: $147 Shoes: $199 Grand total: $846 |
In the "I can afford a splurge" category...
Here we have a dress that I love, the cut of it gives a slightly edgier vibe to what would otherwise be, just a nice dress. I love the bright color of it and the fact that it would transition well between the seasons. And those earrings and shoes (in nude that is) both made their way onto my favorites list and at least one of them is on its way to my house! :)

Ugh, not going to lie I had a really hard time coming up with a casual outfit for this category. There were certain pieces I liked individually which just wouldn't work together as an outfit. *every woman's daily dilemma in getting dressed, right? Anyway, I did manage to pull something together and I actually really do like the jumpsuit. (Anyone who really knows me will be able to tell you that jumpsuits are one of my favorite things!)
The reason I chose this jumpsuit is not only because the color would transition very well between summer and fall but also because the styling options are endless. To give it an edgier vibe, pair with it with a black leather jacket and black strappy heels, to give it a softer but still edgy vibe you could pair it with a nude or light pink moto jacket and chunkier heels. I like the idea of pairing it with chunkier booties but to keep it from looking too chunky on the bottom with the wide leg, etc choose a pair of peep toe booties to show a little skin. You could pair it with a long slouchy cardigan and flat sandals for a comfier but still stylish vibe on a family outing and I could keep going but hopefully you get the idea! :)

"Honey, I'm on a budget..."
I really love this dress, the color, the cut and the fact that you could pair it with so many different things! You could wear it with strappy heels, sandals, booties, boots, add a blazer, cardigan, leather jacket...it would wear well with them all and versatility is always a huge bonus for anything in your closet! *Also I was very surprised that I liked the leopard shoes as much as I did...as a general rule I veer away from pointy toed shoes and low, block heels but these caught my eye for some reason!
Dress: $38 Shoes: $60 Earrings: $18 Grand total: $116 |
Ever since my last trip to Europe I've been a bigger and bigger fan of flats/sneakers in women's fashion. I was not on board at all when I first started seeing sneakers more and more in social media as acceptable footwear for fashionistas! :P But after visiting Amsterdam and seeing the chic, but laid back fashion of the women who were almost all wearing flats/sneakers of some kind with every kind of outfit I was completely won over. For this kind of a look you could either roll the hem of your jeans or choose a cropped pair. And my favorite way to wear flannels, plaid, etc is to pair them with things like layered necklaces, stacking rings, etc. which can give a more thought out look to an otherwise simple, casual staple.
Last but not least I pulled together my favorite shoes from the sale because, hello, shoes! Again, some of these weren't what I usually go for but every now and then, something just catches my attention which keeps my closet fun. Having "out of the ordinary" items in my closet can keep it from getting too boring and right now, it could really use an infusion of extra fun!
Well, that's it for me! Hopefully you had some fun reading my rambling post and were able to get some ideas for the upcoming fall season! I'm looking forward to more skinny jeans, leather jackets and comfy sweaters myself! *and if you decide to check out the sale, by all means, do share what you purchased! ;)
Ciao!
