Tight'n It Up!

Let's talk tights. Love'm or hate'm they are one of the easiest ways to make or break an outfit in the coldest seasons. And by break I mean I think my pasty white legs would stiffen too much from the cold and just shatter if they didn't have another layer of something on top to shield them from the freezing temps! I get cold very easily just like I overheat easily, which is why dressing in layers is one of my favorite things. Having the option to remove or add clothing as my ever changing body temperature fluctuations demand is pretty important!

One of those layers, is tights! I know, you're so surprised by that, right? I tried getting into the whole mini skirt with tights/leggings trend quite a few years ago but I never bought that style on myself back then. But for the past few years now I've gotten cranky every cold winter morning when I reach into my sock drawer and realize all my tights are in the laundry. You might be sitting there thinking for heaven's sake just wear pants, but I don't like wearing pants during the cold months, not exactly sure why. Just one of my many quirks I suppose! Probably because I feel like I can't layer as well underneath pants as I can with skirts or dresses. Either way, tights are one of my favorite cold time accessories and so I've scoured (and by scoured I mean I took 15 minutes to google tights) the internet to bring you some fun and affordable choices of legwear!

1. Florals 2. More florals 3. Squared off

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm not a fan of florals but if you're wearing an otherwise neutral outfit having some kind of pattern, whether floral or geometric, can help break up the monotony and add some visual interest! All three of these can be found at Target for the exact same price of $10!

I actually kind of like the pair on the left but unless you wore something on the short side you wouldn't actually see what makes these tights kind of special. They have an almost burlesque feel to them which is kind of fun. And They're only $6.90 at Forever 21! For a little bit of a funky statement the pair in the middle is the perfect solution. It costs a bit more, $24.99 from TJ Maxx but you might just decide that they're worth it. (Also, TJ Maxx always has affordable thermal tights in stock during the fall and winter and believe me, they're worth it!) And finally, for the lover of cats in your life, the pair on the right is the purrfect choice. (I kind of hate myself for wording it that way). If not purrfect they are affordable at only $10.00 at Hot Topic. They used to have a Batman pair just like these and I was more than tempted to get them. Unfortunately that never actually came to fruition!

Nordstrom Rack had quite the array of tights!
1. Bows $11.97
2. Seeing Red $9.97 (although from here they look like basic black tights)
3. Neutral Colorblocking $14.97 (not convinced I like them but I'm always up for something unique)
4. Show Me the Money Honey $13.97

Macy's and Nordstrom Rack both had my favorite selection of tights. This particular group is from Macy's and they're all a part of their Black Friday Special sale. I didn't realize until 'too late' that the lines running down the back of the top left pair are in fact tiny hearts, another thing I'm not nuts over but I decided to leave them in since I know not everyone out there dislikes them as much as I do! :P  But at $9.99 they do seem like a good deal! The metallic dotted tights on the bottom left seem like a fun New Year's Eve option especially if you've decided for a mini dress/skirt option! They also come in at $9.99. And at last my favorite pair. They would definitely be different for me but with the heavier Paisley print on the front I think they'd make a great statement paired with a simpler dress or a colorful or edgier skirt. They also come in at $9.99!

Of course what is the fun in seeing cool things to buy without some accompanying inspiration courtesy of Pinterest? I love tights with shorts and I really love the fishnet tights with distressed jeans. Now that is something I have to try! So whether you want to try colorful tights, patterned tights, funky tights, novelty tights, etc. the internet has a wide selection for you to choose from, so enjoy!!

Ciao!

  1. You have 100% convinced me to buy more tights... all of the ones I have are just solid colors, but now I'm motivated to buy some fun ones! Also, I love your blog's new look! I've also never really considered tights with shorts as an option for myself, but after seeing that bottom right picture, I might be alllllmost persuaded. Love your posts!
